Today, for our Easter to Pentecost profile, we highlight Fouad Saliby, a student at the European Nazarene College (EuNC) Digital Campus and the EuNC College-wide Student Representative.

Background: Tell us a little about your life journey. Where do you come from and where on the road did you meet Christ?

I am Lebanese from the Middle East. I was brought up in a traditional Christian family during times of war and displacement. My aunt was a born-again believer who showed us the way of the Lord. Prevenient Grace had been following since I was young and I could witness to the protection of God in many situations. One day, when I was 18, I devoted my life to Christ and accepted Him as my personal Savior.

Your studies are at the European Nazarene College Digital Campus. What moments have opened your eyes along the way?

I have experienced amazing moments while studying different courses. I was touched greatly by my studies of the gospels and the Psalms. Lectio Divina is one of the favorite spiritual practices that I have learned. Human Growth and Development and Christian Ethics have helped me to better understand the human nature. Spiritual Formation has given me practical ways to stay within the circle that the Holy Spirit works in.

How has your online study helped you in your ministry in Beirut?

Having courses online added value, especially as I work for a full-time job as a senior platform engineer in a multinational insurance company, have a family to raise, and am the District NYI President.

The studies have equipped me for my ministry and have enriched my knowledge base allowing me to better communicate spiritual terms and to understand the human nature.

You also serve as the College-wide Student Representative. What does leading others mean to you in this season?

I cannot say lead. What I have been witnessing about leadership is rather collaboration and transformation I am learning with others, growing with others, and seeking to become more like Christ together. Being a Servant in itself is a privilege that I don’t deserve. It is about touching other lives with the gospel. “For it is God who works in us to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” (Philippians 2:13 NIV)

And what’s next for you? Where is your heart burning for Jesus?

I plan to keep walking near Christ, be guided by the Spirit, and ask Him daily how I can be of good use to His Glory and to others.
