“My name is Kanya and I live with my husband in Nepal. I have four daughters; three are already married.

A few years ago, my family was not in good condition. There was no peace, harmony, or reconciliation because my husband was an alcoholic. It was tough to fulfill my family’s needs and provide education for my daughters, so they married early.

I went overseas to work because we had difficulty feeding our family. I worked abroad for 10 years and sent money home, but my husband did not save it. When I returned, my family was still in a critical condition—there was no peace or joy. My husband was still drinking and there was quarreling at home.

But then I learned that my daughters were going to a church near our house. I had a chance to learn about Jesus from my children and the church leaders. I also started going to church, and everyone there prayed for me and my family to have peace at home.

One of my daughters was living with us with her 4-year-old son because she was divorced. My grandson had the opportunity to be enrolled in the church’s child development center and received help with schooling.

Slowly and gradually, we started to experience some peace in our family. We prayed a lot for my husband. He also began to change and started working. I joined a Self-Help Group at the center, through which I received a loan. I started chicken, goat, and duck farming as my occupation. Our income source began increasing, and our family found greater prosperity.

Now, we have unity in our family because my husband also goes to church, and my grandson continues to receive help with his studies. Our entire family now follows Jesus. I have a dream to expand my farming business to include more livestock and crops, increase our income, and providing more stability for our family.

We are so happy and thankful to God and the center.”–Kanya’s story is not unique.
