NYUK North held their first ever District Youth Camp last week – here, Pastor Hannah Clarkson, District co-President tells us about what they got up to:

We met from 18th-20th July in Arbroath, Scotland. Over the 3 days we had 44 leaders and young people join together for fun, good food, laughter, worship and teaching.

Our theme this year was ‘The Interrupted Life’. We looked at the twists and interventions that come in our life when we bring God into it. We looked at various bible characters who had twists/ interruptions/ interventions in their life and what we can learn from them, including: Jonah, Philip, Esther, Daniel and Joseph. Our speakers were Pastor Hannah Clarkson (seminars) and Rev. Jack Swan (Evening Service).

We played team games, had lots of free time to enjoy the sun (which is rare in Scotland!) and we even got to spend the afternoon at the beach. Our young people have said their highlights were making new friends, playing American Football on the beach, late nights and playing Kickball.

We had a response time during our second evening service and about 8 of our young people either made a commitment for the first time or recommitted their lives to God, which was amazing and so exciting! Our focus since Covid has been to rebuild our community and make it stronger and these few days really added to that.

I would like to thank our Mini Camp Coordinator, Kathryn Tatlow, for pulling together this camp in a really short period of time. And a big thank you to all our leaders who took time off work to invest in the lives of our young people this week.
